The Bradenton YMCA is the flagship branch of the Manatee County YMCAs, built in 1977. The Bradenton Kiwanis Club donated a five-acre site and a small metal building was constructed for Y programs and membership. It was not very long before the branch expanded due to the wonderful support of the community. In 1983, a full facility was built including locker rooms, offices and an outdoor swimming pool. Continued growth over the years consisted of adding a group exercise room with wood floor, an indoor heated pool, expanded fitness center, new teen center, expanded child care area, game room for families and cycling room.
