General Guidelines

Members must bring their membership card each time they visit the YMCA and scan it to gain access.

Loaned or expired cards will be confiscated.

Not following YMCA policies or procedures is grounds for membership termination without refund.

The YMCA follows all state and local guidelines and laws in our operations.

Children ages 5+ must utilize appropriate gender locker rooms.

Lost or stolen cards must be reported. A first-time replacement fee will be waived. A $10 fee will be charged for further replacement cards.

Memberships can be put "on hold" for short-term illness or vacation (6-month maximum). Written notice is required 5 days prior to the draft date.

YMCA does not provide accident or medical insurance. The cost of health/accident insurance is not included in membership or program fees.

Personal babysitting services are not authorized by YMCA employees.

The YMCA is not responsible for items lost or stolen while utilizing YMCA facilities/programs.

Bags or purses are not permitted in wellness areas. Lockers are provided.

Smoking and/or vaping is not permitted on YMCA property.

Animals are not permitted in the facility or on YMCA property (ADA service animals are excepted).

All requests for changes in membership accounts need to be done in writing.

Policies and services are subject to change without notice in order to better meet the needs of YMCA members and participants.

Bank drafts occur on the 1st, 15th, or 20th of each month, unless it falls on a weekend, then it will occur on the nearest weekday. It is the member's responsibility to check their monthly statement and report any corrections to the YMCA immediately. A $30 service fee will be applied to all accounts returned, unpaid, closed, or payments stopped.

Hold Policy: Members may place their membership on hold for a minimum of 1 full month and a maximum of 6 full months per year. If membership is released prior to 1 full month, you will be charged full membership rate.

Swim Lane Reservation Procedure

Lap lane reservations and pools at the YMCA are not to be used for lessons by non-YMCA employees.

Group Homes - children removed from the membership by the home cannot be added back for three months.

Individuals not employed or authorized by The Scheu Family YMCA of Upland are prohibited from conducting any type of paid or unpaid training on YMCA grounds.

We reserve the right to prohibit any activity or use of facility that we determine may be harmful or disruptive in our sole and absolute discretion.
Code of Conduct

Harassment or intimidation by words, gestures, body language, or any type of menacing behavior.

Physical contact with another person in an angry, aggressive, or threatening way.

Theft or behavior that results in the loss or destruction of property.

Cell phone photography or unauthorized photography of facilities, members or participants.

Pets are not allowed on Y property unless they are service animals to assist members.
- Nudity is prohibited in every area of the YMCA, including locker rooms (wherever possible). Members are expected to maintain modesty at all times and quickly cover up or change clothes in locker rooms, keeping exposure as minimal as possible.
- Video recorders, cameras, or any other visual recording devices in locker rooms is strictly prohibited. Anyone caught taking pictures or videos of another person in any area of the YMCA, without their permission and knowledge, will be prosecuted to the full extent of the law by the YMCA and may lead to the termination of their membership. Contact member services with any concerns.
- Cell phone use is not permitted in the cardio/weight rooms, studios, or other program areas unless it is being used for recreation purposes (listening to music, reading a book).
Membership Hold and Cancellation Policy
All membership holds and cancellation requests must be submitted via email to [email protected]. Please include your full name, date of birth, and when you would like the hold or cancellation to begin.
- Memberships can be placed on hold for a minimum of 1 full month and a maximum of 3 full months at a time. There is a maximum of 6 full months per calendar year. If membership is released from hold prior to 1 full month, you will be charged the full membership rate.
Important Notes on the Cancellation Policy:
All hold and cancellation requests must be submitted via email at least 5 business days prior to the member's draft date - otherwise they will be charged. Hold and cancellation requests must be confirmed as processed by a membership representative from your home branch. If you do not receive a confirmation notice acknowledging receipt of your request, it is your responsibility to notify membership staff.
